Honda Civic Hybrid pays for false claims

Heather Peters, a Californian, recieves payment for the failure of her Civic to deliver the 50 miles per gallon that was promised when she bought it.  She was awarded $9,687, but her real goal was to inspire the 200,000 people who purchased the car in 2006 to rise up against Honda.  If this were to happen, it could cost Honda Motor Co. $2 billion.  To avoid this, Honda proposed a class-action settlement would give aggrieved owners $100 to $200 each and a $1,000 credit toward the purchase of a new car.
